Awaken your inner cinephile.

A premium home theater experience is within your reach. The Harman Kardon® AVR 700 delivers a fully immersive, 5.1-channel, surround-sound experience while playing high-definition sources at maximum quality. HDMI® technology with 3D and Audio Return Channel connections allows you to watch your favorite films as if you were in a movie theater. Dolby® TrueHD and DTS-HD Master Audio™ decoding technology deliver the most realistic sound possible, no matter what your home theater setup is like. Enjoy movies at home as never before. Experience the Harman Kardon AVR 700.

The Harman Kardon AVR 700 delivers solid, detailed sound at 75 watts per channel. Optimized to fill an average-sized home theater with anything but average audio, the AVR 700 ensures that your music will always hit the right notes, sound effects will always feel realistic, and dialogue will always be delivered crisply.
3D movies play as vividly and realistically in your home as they would in a movie theater, thanks to the HDMI connectivity on the AVR 700. Experience everything from a 3D TV to a 3D Blu-ray Disc™ recording with an astonishing level of realism. An Audio Return Channel simplifies setup by feeding audio back from a “smart TV” through the AVR.
The AVR 700 can power a full 5.1-channel surround-sound system. The engineers who created the AVR have included a high-current capability (HCC), ultrawide-bandwidth amplifier for accurate, dynamic audio, giving your home system a spectacular range of sound.
Hear films in the way that filmmakers intend them you to hear them. The AVR 700’s Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD Master Audio decoding create an immersive, high-resolution sound environment that matches the high-resolution HDMI video from HD sources such as Blu-ray Disc media.
The AVR 700 features three HDMI inputs for all of your modern digital video sources. It also has two composite video inputs for legacy sources. Three digital audio inputs and five analog inputs keep you connected to all your audio sources, while a front-panel USB port allows you to play MP3 and WMA files.
While some people sleep, you stay up to watch. But how do you enjoy the full experience of the AVR 700 without waking anyone up? Simple. Use night mode, which reduces the volume on loud sounds and increases the volume on quiet sounds. Now you can enjoy a full experience at quiet listening levels without having to adjust the volume all the time.
The AVR 700 comes with a fully functional IR (infrared) remote control that can make other remotes unnecessary. Optimized to run most of the devices in your home theater system, this remote eliminates the need for a table full of remotes. Instead, it enables you to return your coffee table to its intended purpose: a footrest.
An easy-to-read dot-matrix display on the front panel of the AVR 700 allows you to listen to music on your system without making you turn on the TV to control its functionality.

FAQs & How-Tos

  • There are five possible reasons for the receiver shutting down. 1. There is a problem internally with the receiver. 2. There is a problem with one or more of your speakers. 3. There is a problem with one or more of your speaker wires. 4. There is a problem with the speaker wiring done on your system. 5. The unit is overheating. No ventilation. First, check the wiring at every speaker terminal at the back of your receiver and at the back of your speakers. A single strand of speaker wire crossing from one terminal to another would be enough to cause the amp to shut down or go into PROTECT. If you do not find any problems with any of the wiring, you should disconnect all speakers from your receiver. If the receiver continues to go into PROTECT, the problem is in the receiver. Please submit a case on the Contact Us page. They will be able to assist you. However, if it turns on, the problem is elsewhere. Begin reconnecting one speaker at a time. Eventually you will connect a speaker that will cause the receiver to shut down. At this point you have found your culprit. On the other hand, it may just be overheating. You must have at least 2 - 3 inches of space between the top of the unit and any shelf or component above the unit. The unit should not be inside a sealed compartment when being used. The unit must be able to breath. There are very powerful amps in these receivers. If they run too hot, they will shut down. An external fan can help this.
